Cancun

We have been to Cancun several times but this last time we visited in August 2018 we had so much fun.  One I wanted to inform you that there is always a travel advisory when traveling to Mexico BUT as long as you stay in the hotel zone you will be fine. The hotels have very strict security and only let hotel guest in, but just keep your guard up, don't leave your drinks or food sitting anywhere, lock up your belongings in our hotel safe and I would advise don't go out at night alone.  Well, that doesn't sound like fun but if you stay at a great hotel you really don't want to leave and they can arrange excursions for you to be picked up at the hotel in a nice Greyhound, air-conditioned bus and bring you back safely.

When we traveled to Cancun we stayed at the Hard Rock Hotel, which is on hotel row and only a short ride from the airport.  The hotel was all inclusive and the most fun hotel I've stayed in.  As soon as we drove in, they had a crew set up like paparazzi taking pics of you while you get out of the car and shouting your name while music was playing in the background.  Once you walk in the hotel they greet you with a cocktail and then you're able to check-in.  The rooms are cute, each one has a theme, we got the Britney Spears room, with a view of the ocean and pool.  In the lobby their's food everywhere, little containers of popcorn, sandwiches, sweets, they have pool tables and TV's playing music videos and sports, couches everywhere to lounge.

The restaurants, OMG the food is so good, we ate at the Asian and Italian restaurant and they were outstanding.  We had the same waitress each morning we were there and I had a Bloody Mary for breakfast every day with Chiliquilas, so when she saw me come in she had both ready for me.  Keep in mind the hotel is all inclusive but please tip your servers, they work very hard and get paid hardly anything, they depend on those tips.

Every night they have a theme night, the first night there it was Mexican night and they set up a whole food and entertainment area in the front on the hotel with tables and chairs, mariachi's singing along with traditional Spanish dancers all dressed up, it's really over the top and impressive. Then when at the pool, they have music playing, trivia games going on, Aqua Zumba and a live band playing rock and roll. It's a party 24/7.  For our excursion's we set up a trip to Tulum to see the Mayan Ruins and a night a Coco Bongo, when I saw this advertised I thought it's for the younger crowd, No it's actually a production of music from famous artist re-enacted by dancers.  It's a wow experience and we had so much fun, we did buy the tickets with chairs, their's a cheaper option to stand on the floor but we're old and not going to do that.  I definitely would recommend this to anyone who loves music.

The trip to Tulum, we had a stop at a jewelry store and there was tequila tasting as well.  The jewelry store was a bust, just fake jewelry for a high price, wound up buying something because we felt guilty and as soon as I came home and try to wear it to work it broke.  So don't buy anything if you go to a jewelry store on the way to Tulum.  The ruins weren't as grand as Chichen Itza, but it was an interesting tour.  We ended the trip with Karaoke with friends and that was a night to remember. If you like music and you like to have fun this hotel is the place for you.  If you want quiet time and relaxation,
